  • Pubblica “Peripheral Vascular Catheter Access in the Emergency Department: A Policy Statement”.
This is the question”.
Buona lettura.

This latest issue of ITJEM 2018 presents some peculiarities:

  • “Peripheral Vascular Catheter Access in the Emergency Department: A Policy Statement” concerns peripheral venous accesses about indications, devices and drugs, all the ways to provide different treatment pathways. This is the result of a work lasting several months by a SIMEU Study Group coordinated by Andrea Fabbri and Gian Alfonso Cibinel, resulting in a declaration that provides technical advices to the emergency physicians about the management of patients with technologically different devices, depending on the complexity of the situation and the places in which they arrive. A document of strong emphasis in which its necessity was felt very much.
  • A SIMEU Consensus about “The management of sepsis in adults in Emergency Department and Emergency Medicine in Italy”; this is also a big work conducted by a SIMEU study group coordinated by Mario Calci and Fabio Causin, which reports indications based on the strength of recommendations and evidences in literature.
These works are an expression of the thought of the emergency physicians nowadays working in Italy and, with a view to give a wide diffusion in the country for the benefit of our doctors and nurses, at the time they are published both in Italian and English. This third issue also includes a very welcome letter from Schiraldi and Guiotto in response to the problems raised by our previous Editorial (No. 2/2018) “Fluids and witch fluids? This is the question”. Then there are the original articles by Cicchini and coll, Lupo e coll and by Caporaletti and coll (which reports a survey carried out during the week that mobilized all the Emergency Departments in Italy in 2017). And finally, the inevitable and by now unavoidable, commentaries by Balzaretti.
This is a number dedicated especially to the publication of works of different SIMEU study groups, which shows the cohesion of the Scientific Society and its pursuit for a unique point of view.
Enjoy the reading.
